LEGENDS 55+ CLASSES

What is the Legends program

Our approach at Volentia is life long health and fitness and our Legends classes provide members who are not able to join our regular CrossFit sessions with an option to train in a group environment.

The classes are designed to promote strength, coordination, mobility and fitness in older adults of 55+ and have helped our members make massive changes to the quality of their lives.

Working Out

Our classes are delivered by caring coaches in a way that allows all abilities and age ranges to train together. We are looking to help you maintain AND regain the strength and fitness needed for a long, healthy and fulfilled life!

Members achievements range from better mobility, to getting up and down from the floor to play with grandchildren, to improving the strength and stamina needed to reach the top of a Scottish mountain!

Whatever your aims are for living a long and active life, regular exercise sessions will help you achieve it.

Ginny

I wasn’t looking to join a gym as I have never really been into one but I saw on Facebook that Volentia were looking to set up a 55+ group so I enquired.

I was totally unfit had no strength in my knees and didn’t think it would be resolved at my age. How wrong can you be!

CrossFit has coaches who guide us through everything. They sometimes have to show us 2 or 3 times but they are patient.

When I was able to get up off the floor without holding on to something like a lot of people my age have to that was a Big achievement.

As time has gone by I am a lot fitter and have done things I didn’t think I would be able to.

We don’t say we can’t do something we say we can’t yet.

Michael

I’ve previously had problems with Arthritis in my right shoulder and getting out of breath easily at work while walking up and down stairs.

I walk approx  11-12,000 steps a day in a 6-7 hour shift unloading vehicles at M&S and I wrongly thought that was enough exercise - little did I realise..

After my initial chat with Nick I was excited about the classes. The tuition and help we were given allowed us to complete the exercises while working at a challenging pace to push ourselves.

After just a few weeks I found that the basic exercises I initially struggled with had become a lot easier to complete and within 2 months I no longer have any pain in my shoulder.

Even though I am 67 after just 4 months I am very surprised at my progress, 'definitely hooked' and I am looking forward to being an 'active' grandad to our new grand-daughter.
